Lewis is a contemporary British landscape painter whose Jonathan Vickers Fine Art Award residency was based at four very different sites in Derbyshire: Cromford Mill, Sudbury Hall, Chatsworth House and Derby’s Silk Mill. His work combines careful observation of the historical, cultural and visual understanding of each site and Lewis hopes that his work fulfils his own intention to ‘shed a different light on the English Landscape’. Photographer Andrew Robinson also documented the progress of Lewis during his year-long commission. Lewis continues to exhibit.
